Behavioral Health Professional Certification Training

We are looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life. A Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families and we are excited to connect our community with Woodfords Family Service for this wonderful ONLINE training program.

This online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a wait list for services and become an integral part of a child’s treatment team. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. You can start at any time and finish at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules then (3) 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register.

140 Classroom Hours w/ a Clinical Externship

For students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program trains students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Includes hands-on labs and a clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

*By "signing up" for this class you will be put on our interest list. Currently there is no CCMA course scheduled at Lake Region and Fryeburg Area Adult Ed.   Gray-New Gloucester Adult & Community Education may already have a class scheduled and we encourage you to reach out to them.

CNA Interest List

CNAs are caregivers who provide patients assistance with activities of daily living and basic needs. They also help patients feel safe and comfortable throughout their hospital stay. These direct caregivers spend most of their time assisting patients and listening to their concerns. 

This is a class, laboratory, and clinical component course that will prepare the student to take the Maine State Board of Nursing (MSBoN) CNA examination. The course is 180 hours spanning over 20 weeks. Most meeting days are on Saturday, with some Tuesday afternoon/evenings as well. You must attend all sessions. Our clinical partners are Norway Health and Rehabilitation Center and Bridgton Hospital.

Real Estate Sales Agent Course

This 55-hour remote learning real estate agent course, approved by the Maine Real Estate Commission, is a prerequisite to taking the Pearson VUE state licensing exam. Based on the book, Introduction to a Successful Career in Maine Real Estate, by Charles “Kim” Coit, its content includes material that is basic to the practice of real estate in Maine. Concepts covered:

  • How the business is organized and regulated by the Maine Real Estate Commission
  • Licensing laws and agency relationships
  • Fiduciary duties of a licensee with an agency agreement with a buyer or seller
  • Private property rights with attention to the public and private limits that may exist on those rights.
  • Required disclosures licensees must make to make to buyers and sellers
  • Basics of contracts and how to complete agreements for real estate transactionsIntroduction to real estate financing and overview of different loan products available
  • Closings and closing costs
  • Tax considerations of property ownership
  • Miscellaneous federal laws including Fair Housing and Americans with Disabilities.

The material is presented in manageable modules. Students read the text and then answer short questions based on the text. The questions are designed to help students focus on key points and reinforce learning. The course has four quizzes. Students take the quiz and with a passing grade of 75, move on to the next topics in the course. Students may retake quizzes until they secure a passing grade. The final course grade is the grade attained on the final exam. Students may retake the final exam as well. Students have 1 year to complete the course.

Upon passing this course AND completing a course evaluation required by the Maine Real Estate Commission, students will receive a Certificate of Completion. This Certificate is your ticket of admission to the Pearson VUE state licensing exam. Students have one year from the course completion to take the Pearson VUE test. We recommend taking the test as soon after completing the real estate agent course as possible.

When students pass the Pearson VUE exam, they affiliate with an agency. The Designated Broker of the Agency and the student sign the application for a license and send the application to the commission for processing.
