Oh, the Pastabilities!

A repeat of one of our favorite pasta classes – Portobello mushroom ravioli is on the menu! Filled with portobello mushrooms, a little prosciutto, and of course some cheese! This family favorite will have a different sauce – a Parmesan cream sauce. Extra yummy. Making good ravioli always starts with the dough. You’ll learn how to tell when the dough is perfect for making these yummy pillows that will delight the tongue and tummy! Each student will leave with at least ½ dozen perfectly frozen for a quick mid-week meal. Bring a small container to bring some home.

Lab Fee: $12 to be paid directly to the instructor.

Knitting 101-Learn to Knit

In this 3 week Knitting 101 class we’ll work from start to finish, talking about yarns, weights and their different uses, which knitting needles to use when and then stitch up a project together. The Knitting 101: Beginner Class is perfect for a total newbie or as a refresher if it has been a while since you had your hands on your needles. We will tailor the class to meet your knitting skill level so that you leave each class excited about what you’ve learned.

Knitting Skills You Will Learn:

Different knitting tools and their uses.
How to Cast On (or begin knitting).
Knit, Purl and Binding Off (or ending a project).
Knitting in the round.
Increasing and decreasing stitches.
Different properties of yarn and the uses for various weights.
Problem-solving for common knitting mistakes and challenges.

Lab Fee: $15 due to the instructor the first night of class.

Or, maybe you just love writing for pleasure and welcome the opportunity to share your work with an audience to get constructive feedback. Even if you feel lost when it comes to writing, but you really want to improve your skills of expression, this no-pressure, interactive course is for you!

Betsy Kate Paradis has been talented at writing from an early age. In high school, she was invited to have her writing published in a magazine. Her writing abilities continued to serve her well throughout her academic years and she received a BA with honors from Boston University in 1996. Having been both on the student-end and the teacher-end of writing workshops, she is happy to offer this workshop to our repertoire of classes.

Hatha Yoga

Everyone can do some yoga, and, with very little instruction, you can begin to practice your focus on breath and holding postures. Yoga improves your posture, tightens and tones your body, increases circulation, strengthens the back muscles and helps with anxiety. Students should bring a yoga mat and a towel or light blanket. Where loose clothing suitable for exercise. This class is for the beginner to experienced yoga student.
