The Phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team who obtains a patient’s blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed across the healthcare system. Classroom and clinical experience at Bridgton Hospital includes medical terminology, blood collection, procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Learners must produce documentation of a recent medical physical examination conducted and signed by a physician, and the following vaccinations: Hepatitis B, MMR, Tetanus, Varicella, and TB.
