This course by BoomerTECH Adventures will show you how to get the most out of Apple’s powerful Safari browser. Your iPad is the gateway to the world when you open the Safari app. Safari, Apple’s browser, is superb because it provides a variety of cool features. The Safari iPad app has some differences from the iPhone version. (See our separate course for iPhone, “Unlock Safari’s Secrets on Your iPhone in Just Five Lessons.”) In this course, you will learn what the icons on the top menu do, explore all of the choices on Safari’s opening page, review efficient search strategies, look at the hidden possibilities within the share feature, learn the advantages of reader view, and more. After completing the five lessons you will be a confident user of Safari on your iPad. This course includes 5 videos: the Top Menu, Start Page/Opening Screen, Efficient Searching, the Share Button, and Reader View. Other course resources include supplementary videos and articles. You will have access to BoomerTECH Adventures email for support before, during, and after the class. The course package contains all the materials you need: Tips for getting started, summaries of each of the instructional videos, a list of all course resources (videos and printed articles). All resources are accessible from the course booklet. Students will need a strong internet connection and a Mac computer, iPad, or iPhone to access videos and articles.

In our basic “Hidden Gems” course, we explored tracking, slide to type, customizing your control center, and accessing the built-in scanner…among other cool features. In this MORE Hidden Gems course we delve into the additional secrets of our iPhones and iPads. Learn how to set up helpful widgets, control text size, choose an interesting Siri sidekick, access important privacy features, and more. You’ll definitely increase your understanding of the intricacies of your iPhone and /or iPad by the end of this course. This course includes 8 videos: Course overview, edit “For You” slideshows, privacy/security features, quickly start a video recording, Siri sidekick, use folders to organize photos, change text size, and learn the magic of widgets. Other course resources include supplementary videos, articles, and tip sheets. You will have access to BoomerTECH Adventures email for support before, during, and after the class. This informative workshop will provide attendees with all the information they need to enter National Service through the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps is the program whereby citizens can Make a Difference in their community by enrolling to lend their energy and ability to advance a well thought out project and program. AmeriCorps members receive a stipend, fully paid health benefit (full time) and an education award that can be applied to any post-secondary school tuition/fees. Member terms are full or part time and there are many opportunities available, including the Augusta area. Hear more about how you can enlist to provide National Service through AmeriCorps in your own community by attending this lively in-person seminar. There is no charge to attend a workshop and participants are under no obligation to join.

Experience and learn the art of Reiki. In the first half of this session, you will experience the peace and calm of Reiki in a meditative state. You will destress and gain awareness of mental health. Unplugging for a few minutes a day is a transformative practice in being a more fulfilled person, giving you energy and focus. During the second half of the evening you will be provided with note-taking materials and learn basic techniques in how a Reiki I practitioner works on relaxing and healing themselves, others and their pets, followed by an overview of what a Reiki practitioner can accomplish. You will learn the benefits of becoming a Reiki Master. Wear comfortable clothes, and bring water, a blanket or throw, a pillow, and if possible a yoga mat.

This is a two-session class, you must be present at both sessions in order to earn the credit. The Maine Driving Dynamics course is a driver improvement course that is aimed to improve a student’s defensive driving awareness and abilities. This five-hour course runs over two evenings and includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. Our goal is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes. The course may be taken for point reduction only once every 365 days. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record.
